KOCHI: The Crime Branch has alleged that actor Dileep had taken the crucial evidence in connection with the actress assault case to Mumbai and destroyed them. Crime Branch mentioned this crucial information in its report submitted to the High Court seeking dismissal of Dileep's petition. According to the investigation report, the accused produced the phones after destroying the data that was helpful to the prosecution.
The accused had produced six mobile phones before the High Court as asked by it. The accused had used mainly four phones for the conspiracy. The accused took all these phones to a company in Mumbai and destroyed all the data inside, Crime Branch said.
Meanwhile, The High Court rejected Dileep’s plea seeking to quash further probe in the actress assault case. A bench led by Justice Kauser Edappagath rejected the plea. The court asked the investigating officials to go on with further probe and directed them to submit the investigation report by April 15.
As the trial of the case reached its final stage, the special investigation team had conducted a further investigation based on the revelations of director Balachandra Kumar. In the wake of this revelation, the police mainly probed whether the footages of the actress being attacked reached the hands of Dileep. The actor moved the court questioning this.
The court directed the crime branch to continue their investigation while considering the plea and ordered to submit the investigation report by April 15. The court rejected Dileep's plea accepting prosecution's argument that there is no rule that a further probe is not required as the trial was in its final stages. The court asked Dileep's lawyers what is wrong in continuing the investigation and let truth be proved. The court also said that they are not opining on Balachandra Kumar's credibility at this stage.
