NEW DELHI: The two-year travel ban on international travel is coming to an end. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has approved to restart international flights to the country from March 27. The decision was taken following the improvement in the Covid vaccination rate worldwide. The DGCA decision is a big relief to people working abroad and to students.

The travel ban, which was earlier announced till February 28, 2021, has been extended for another year. International flights were banned on March 23, 2020 due to Covid outbreak. However, India operated flights to 32 countries via the Vande Bharat Mission and through a special air bubble. These include services to the US, UK, UAE, Kenya, Bhutan and France.

However, the DGCA said that international flights would be restarted in the country in strict compliance with the rules and regulations of the Union Ministry of Health.
