KOCHI: The Crime Branch will also charge actor Dileep under sections pertaining to the destruction of evidence for tampering with his phones. The Crime Branch is mulling the action following the discovery that Dileep had erased data from four phones with the help of Lab Systems India in Mumbai to divert the investigation into the conspiracy case.
The crime branch officials are also planning to file a case against the lab owner and staff who were involved in tampering with the evidence despite knowing that the phone might have contained crucial information in connection with the actress assault case. The officials will also ask the court to cancel the bail of the accused.
Dileep's phones had been seized and examined in a lab in Thiruvananthapuram in connection with the actress assault case. Earlier, Dileep's lawyers had approached the lab in Mumbai to gather information required for questioning the lab director and other officials. It is believed that the accused used this connection to erase information from their phones.
Lab staff were told that the phones were related to the conspiracy case. The lab demanded Rs 75,000 for each phone. Lab owners were questioned. It is alleged that the information on the four phones was destroyed and the information on the phone was transferred to the hard disk.
The Crime Branch has found that Lab Systems India is a company that provides technical assistance to income tax evasion of businessmen and other bigshots.
