KOCHI: A woman sustained serious injuries after her mother-in-law’s friend assaulted her brutally at Koratty in Thrissur. The victim has been identified as M S Vaishnavi of Perumbavoor. Vaishnavi, a final year civil engineering student is undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital in Angamaly.
Vaishnavi got married to Mukesh, a native of Palappally Mozhikulam in Koratty, six months ago. She said that her mother-in-law’s friend attacked her when she exposed their illicit relationship. He lives three kilometres away from their house. She also tried to prevent him from entering her house. He hit her on her face when she was talking to her neighbour on Sunday night. Her husband was also attacked when he tried to stop him from the act. Her husband stopped his car and then called their neighbours.
Following that, the woman was admitted to the hospital. The police reached the hospital after informed by them but could not arrest him as he was absconding. Mukesh had lodged a complaint with the police. She said that her mother-in-law and her husband’s brother used to torture her. Mukesh revealed everything through his wife Instagram’s account.
Vaishnavi said that her mother-in-law used to harass her from the time she got married. She used to lock her up in the room after her husband goes for work. Food was also not given. She said that she used to drink water from the toilet.
