THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister P Rajeev inaugurated the 'Akri Kada' mobile application launched by the Kerala Scrap Merchants Association at a function held at the Muscat Hotel yesterday.
Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Health Standing Committee Chairperson Jameela Sreedhar released the scrap shop uniform. People can upload pictures of useless objects lying in their houses anywhere in the state to the 'Akri Kada' app.
These upload images will alert members of the Scrap Merchants Association, who live within a five-kilometer radius. After this, they collect information directly from the person who uploaded the images. The service is free. Uniformed staff will arrive at the home only at the time proposed by the residents.
Workers will also have a price list of scrap goods. Materials that require urgent and gradual removal will be done according to the priority set by the residents.
