LUCKNOW: The BJP is gaining strength in Uttar Pradesh The first hour results hint that Yogi government is all set for a second term. As per the latest reports, the party is leading in 236 seats. With this, the party gained an absolute majority in the lead. Akhilesh's SP, which was facing a strong challenge, has a lead of only 105 seats. The Congress is nowhere in the picture. They are leading only in four places. Mayawati's BSP is able to lead only in three places.

The BJP candidates are leading in all the seats in Lakhimpur Kheri and Hathras constituencies where the farmers' agitation was expected to pose a strong challenge to the party in the elections. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has a clear lead in Gorakhpur constituency and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has a clear lead in Siratul constituency.

When the counting started, the BJP and the SP were neck to neck, but later the BJP gained clear dominance. SP leader Akhilesh Yadav is leading in Kalhal. SP leader Azam Khan who is in jail in a criminal case and his son are leading. However, the congress is nowhere in the picture. The lead of party candidates is very low in all the four leading constituencies. Reports said the congress is far behind in Rae Bareli and Amethi, the party's strongholds.
