NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has tweeted that he will learn from this assembly elections defeat and will return strongly to Uttar Pradesh and other states. "I accept this verdict by the people of the country and congratulate everyone who won the election," Rahul tweeted. Rahul also tweeted that he would like to thank all the Congress workers who actively participated in the election campaign and worked day and night.

BJP won in four of the five states where elections were held. BJP has gained a clear lead in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur. In Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party is leading. After losing Punjab, the Congress has sunk into a pitiable state.

Humbly accept the people’s verdict. Best wishes to those who have won the mandate.

My gratitude to all Congress workers and volunteers for their hard work and dedication.

We will learn from this and keep working for the interests of the people of India.

Meanwhile, some clips of Rahul Gandhi's campaign speech were tweeted from the official handle of the Congress at 12 noon. The tweet from the official page of the Congress states that fear is an election and when we are afraid of something we decide to be afraid of ourselves. Rahul had earlier said that he is not afraid of whatever the people would choose.
