NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated the BJP on its victory in Assembly elections. Narendra Modi, who said that it was the first time in history that a Chief Minister of UP was retaining power after completing, added that it was a day of joy and celebration.

'Caste politics is over in Uttar Pradesh. The people of the state have voted for development," Modi said while attending a victory celebration at the BJP headquarters.

Taking a dig at the Congress, Modi said that dynasty politics would destroy democracy. "This victory is a recognition of the actions of the government. Uttar Pradesh has created history. The BJP has made history in UP and Uttarakhand. From today it is Holi for the activists. Women and young voters supported the BJP. First-time voters voted for the BJP," the PM said.
