THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala will be brought to the forefront in the Information Technology (IT) revolution. A new IT Park will be built in Kannur, said Finance Minister K N Balagopal. In addition, four IT corridors will also be constructed, he said in his budget speech.
The 5G service to be launched in the country this year, will bring changes in Kerala as well. As part of it, 5G Leadership Package Corridors have been announced. IT corridors will be constructed parallel to the national highways.
Satellite IT parks will be constructed in the areas where corridors are to be built.
20 small IT parks will be launched. Around 25 acres of lands will be acquired for the IT parks.
Rs 1000 crore will be allotted for four Science parks.
As the Kannur airport expands, new opportunities will arise in the IT industries. A new IT park will be built in the district. Technopark will be constructed in Kollam.
The exports of IT products will be increased over the next five years. In addition to the money mentioned in the project, another Rs 100 crore will be allotted from KIIFB.
Centres including the Technopark will be expanded. Rs 1000 crore has been earmarked for the park from the Land Acquisition Rule.
Work near home is also gaining importance similar to work from home. It will be useful for women and other educated people.
Internships will be provided to IT companies with government assistance.
