THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister K N Balagopal said the services of veterinarians will be ensured even at night. He announced in the budget that a three-tier health care system would be envisaged as part of the expansion of the animal husbandry division.
District Veterinary Centres and Kudappanakunnu Multi Specialty Veterinary Hospital will function as district level referral units. 34 crore has been set apart for this.
9.8 crore for providing emergency services to veterinarians at night.
The allocation to the fisheries sector has been increased. 100 crore for coastal protection.
Seven and a half crore to poultry development corporation
The construction of Malappuram Moorkkanad milk powder manufacturing centre will be completed this year
An amount of Rs 240.6 crore has been sanctioned for the fisheries sector.
5.50 crore for maritime security project
16 crore has been kept apart for Punargeham project. In addition Rs 72 crore has been sanctioned for basic facilities and human development of fishermen.
25 crore for prevention of human-wildlife conflict: This includes compensation for loss of life.
Financial assistance for projects implemented in forested villages
232 crore has been allotted to the forest and wildlife department.
An amount of Rs one crore was initially sanctioned for the establishment of a navy museum at Idukki.
