THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the first budget of the second Pinarayi government, Rs 140 crore has been set apart for the development of Kuttanad. Rs 140 crore to solve the flood distress. An amount of Rs 51 crore has been sanctioned for prevention of crop failure and an amount of Rs 54 crore to increase the production of paddy. Finance Minister K N Balagopal informed the assembly that priority would be given to solve the problems of Kuttanad.
Rs 117 crore has been earmarked to the coir sector for the development of coir. Apart from this, Rs 140 crore has been set apart to prevent floods in Idukki and Wayanad. An amount of Rs 2.5 crore has been set apart for the comprehensive development of Alappuzha Port.
