THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Though the budget is amidst severe financial crisis, the finance minister announced help for arts, including cinema. In addition to announcing financial assistance to the film academy, the budget also provides help for the development of film in the state. Along with this, help has been offered to Kerala's own art form Kathakali.

• A memorial for musician MS Viswanathan in Palakkad
• A cultural centre named after the ancient poet Cherusseri will be set up at Chirakkal in Kannur
• Rs 28 crore for Thiruvananthapuram Museum and Kozhikode Art Gallery
• New Museum in Thrissur with emphasis on entertainment, education and research
• Rs 19 crore for various projects of the archaeological department
• P Kishna Pillai Memorial in Vaikkom
• Pandit Karuppan Memorial will be set up at Cheranalloor
• One crore for Chavarayachan Research Centre
• One crore for Thunchath Ezhuthachan Research Centre
