WASHINGTON: Petrol price has reached a record high in the United States and it is the highest rate in 14 years. Yet that price could not surpass the price of petrol in India. Petrol prices in the United States have risen by about $ 0.70 since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war.

The current price of a gallon (3.78 liters) of petrol in the US is $ 4.31 (Rs. 329.95). It is also noteworthy that diesel costs higher than petrol. A gallon of diesel costs $ 5.05 (Rs. 386.60).

The current petrol rate breaks the record of $ 4.11 set on July 17, 2008 during inflation.

In the United States, petrol is sold in gallons, not in liters. One US gallon is 3.78 liters. At the same time the Imperial gallon or UK gallon is 4.54 liters. That means you have to pay Rs 87.28 to buy a liter of petrol. This price is lower than the selling price of petrol in India for months.

In most Indian cities, petrol prices are around Rs 90 or Rs 100. After the central government reduced the excise duty on petrol by Rs 5 and diesel by Rs 10, there has been no major change in prices since November 4, 2021
