KOCHI: 'Roms and Raks' is a beauty parlour for pets situated in Kadavanthara, Ernakulam. It is also known as Grooming centre for pets.

Dogs and cats can be dressed up here.The pets can be washed with shampoo and conditioner, perfumed and taken back with the beauties. Since the work is up to four hours long, only a maximum of five pets are allowed in a day. It takes about ten hours to straighten tangled hair.

Beauty care tips are selected as per the body type of the pet.There are hairstyles like puppycut and teddy bear cut.

Depending on the breed of dog, the cost can range from Rs 800 to Rs 3,800. Larger breeds of dogs, such as the St. Bernard, Labrador and German Shepherd, have higher rates. Ordinary dogs cost between Rs 800 and Rs 1,400.

In 2016, the first beauty parlor was opened in Edappally for pets . Now, there are about a thousand grooming centers run by individuals across the state , said Tarun Le Jose, director of Roms N Raks.
