THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to revoke the union government's decision to prohibit the Kerala government from participating in the strategic disinvestment of HLL Lifecare.
Preventing a state government from participating in a competitive bidding process will not be in accordance with the principles of cooperative federalism. The state government has the competence accorded to it by the constitution to take a decision on its own in such matters, the CM stated in his letter to the Prime Minister.
'Requested @PMOIndia Shri Narendra Modi Ji to revoke the Union Govt.'s decision to prohibit the State Govt. from participating in the strategic disinvestment of @HLLLifecare & uphold the spirit of cooperative federalism that allow States to decide on its own in such matters,' the CM wrote on his social media page.
In his letter, the CM demanded that either the land and property owned by HLL be handed over to Kerala or the state government should be allowed to participate in the auction process.
