THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police have arrested the grandmother in the case in which a one-and-half-year-old girl was drowned to death. Sipsy, an Angamaly native, was arrested by the Thiruvananthapuram police. She was arrested on non-bailable charges under the Juvenile Justice Act (JAA).

Sipsy was arrested from the Beemappalli area by the Poonthura police around Saturday morning. She had reached Thiruvananthapuram on Friday and stayed in a hotel in Thampanoor. She went to the Beemappalli area, in disguise, by Saturday morning.

Sipsy was taken into custody following an investigation based on some secret information received by the police. One of Sipsy’s friend is resident of Poonthura. Investigating officers suspect that she would have reached the Beemappalli area on the instruction of her friend.

She hurled insults at the police on being brought to the police station. Sipsy’s lover had killed the child. In the incident, a case has also been registered against Sajeev, the child’s father and Sipsy’s son. The police is continuing their search for him.
