NEW DELHI: The police have arrested Paytm founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma in a case of rash driving. The incident occurred on February 22. Vijay, who was driving a Jaguar Land Rover, had allegedly hit the official car of Benita Mary Jaiker, the District Commissioner of Police (DCP) of South Delhi. The DCP’s driver was alone in the car at the time of the incident.

The incident took place in front of Mother’s International School following which the car left without stopping. The driver had noted down the Land Rover’s number and it was found that the vehicle belonged to a business group. Soon, it was learned that the car’s owner was Vijay Shekhar Sharma. The police had registered a case against Vijay for negligent driving and was later released on bail.

Vijay Shekhar Sharma founded the Paytm in 2010 as a mobile recharging app. Soon after, it was used for other services as well. Vijay's assets have grown exponentially with the rapid growth of Paytm. According to Forbes’ figures, he has a net worth of 2.4 billion dollars.
