AISWAL: Esther Hnamte, who sang Vande Mataram never thought that her song would conquer the minds of Prime Minister. Esther is from Lunglei in Mizoram. She sang the Vande Mataram part from the song 'Ma Thuche Salam' composed by A R Rahman at the function of 50th year of independence. The Prime Minister noticed this part. PM Modi wrote: ‘Adorable and admirable! Proud of Esther Hnamte for this rendition.’

The video was first shared by Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga. The Prime Minister then re-shared this video. Esther was heard singing along with others in the school ground. The video seen by 7.93 lakh people has got 30,000 likes and 6000 retweets. The video with shots of Mizoram's picturesque landscape was seen by 1.3 crore people in YouTube.

The video was posted with the caption, ‘Dear brothers and sisters, be proud that you are an Indian, it is a land of love, care, and affection. so lovely the variety in languages, cultures, lifestyle.
