BATHINDA: An ordinary family in Bathinda, Punjab, is overjoyed after the announcement of the election results. One of its family members has defeated Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi in the Punjab elections. Labh Singh, a small mobile shop owner, has defeated Charanjit Singh Channi from Bhadaur assembly constituency. Aam Aadmi Party candidate Labh Singh won by over a majority 37,000 votes.

According to Labh Singh's family, his victory in the by-elections was unlikely to make any difference in their future lives. The family says that they will continue doing their current jobs. Baldev Kaur, Labh Singh's mother, is a sweeper in a school in Punjab. Baldev Kaur says that she will contine her job.Also, sweeping is an unavoidable part of our lives, said Kaur.

Baldev Kaur said that she was happy that her son had defeated the CM but would continue sweeping work as it is a part of our lives. They explained that it was through this work that their living expenses were taken care of. Labh Singh's wife Veerpal Kaur works as a tailor and his father Darshan Singh as a tractor driver. Labh Singh's wife Veerpal Kaur also says that she would continue her normal life. Veerpal Kaur added that she does not want to live a life of fame and stated that the present life is comfortable.
