PALAKKAD: The DYFI leader who was to be arrested in the murder case of Yuva Morcha leader Arun Kumar surrendered here Monday. Arun Kumar was stabbed to death during an argument during the Pazhampalakode temple festival. The police had arrested six accused in the case. The seventh accused, DYFI unit secretary Mithun, surrendered today.

The BJP had strongly protested for not nabbing Mithun, one of the main accused in the case. The incident that led to Arun's death happened on March 2. Yuva Morcha Tharoor panchayat secretary Arun Kumar (28) was stabbed on his chest. Arun died on March 11 while undergoing treatment. The cause of his death was the stab on his heart with a weapon similar to a penknife. The post-mortem report also mentioned that the blood flow to Arun's brain had stopped.
