CHENNAI: Two minor sisters have requested Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin to save them from the harassment of the locals. The girls have been mentally and physically tortured by the local people for lodging a sexual abuse complaint with the police. The video of the 15-year-old and 17-year-old girls, bursting into tears while revealing about the abuse, has been widely circulated on the social media.
Even though we lodged a complaint with the Mahabalipuram police, no action was taken, said the girls. Those who support the accused are regularly harassing us. The locals are isolating us. We are afraid to even step out of the house. It is better to die than live in fear like this, said the girls in the video. The locals turned against the girls’ family and began to isolate them after they complained that their uncle's son had abused them. The locals are harassing them when they go out and have also threatened to set their house on fire if they go ahead with the complaint.
A POCSO case has been registered on the complaint. We advise to not spread the video as the girls are minors, said the police. Investigation is under progress in the incident.
