KOCHI: The excise have taken a case against the first pub in Kerala for arranging foreign women to serve liquor. The case was taken against ‘Fly-High’ located near the Kochi shipyard. The case was registered after women were found serving liquor and also for noticing flaws in the stock register. The manager of the pub was arrested and released on bail.
The excise team conducted an inspection at the pub after visuals of women serving liquor had surfaced. Under the Foreign Liquor Act of Kerala, it is illegal for women to serve alcohol. Not only that, flaws were noticed in the stock register of the bar. Following that, the manager was arrested.
Meantime, the pub officials said it is not illegal for women to serve alcohol. There is some ambiguity in this regard.
