LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja intends to make the Pakistan Cricket League (PSL) as good as the IPL. Ramiz Raja said that aPCB's source of funding involves a grant from the ICC and revenue from the PSL, so raising the standard of PSL is essential for the survival of PCB.

As a first step, PCB intends to auction off players as in the IPL. Currently in the PSL, teams select players through the draft system. Ramiz Raja reckons that if players are auctioned off like in India, revenue will increase. In addition, the team plans to increase the amount they spend each season. "Once all these changes are made, the Pakistan Super League will become one of the best cricket leagues in the world and no one will be interested in playing in India after that," said Ramiz Raja.

The IPL is the first official cricket league in the world. It is followed by the Big Bash League in Australia, the Caribbean Cricket League in West Indies and PSL in Pakistan. But none of these have been able to garner any stardom or revenue like the IPL. That is why cricketers are still interested in participating in the IPL.
