KOCHI: Drugs are reaching Kerala in parcels from abroad. Drugs were seized in a raid conducted in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. The parcels came from Netherlands and Oman. The parcels arrived for the residents of Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram.
During the raid, LSD that arrived in parcels from abroad were seized. A Tamil Nadu native was recently arrested in connection with an investigation into a large number of drugs being smuggled into Kerala through couriers from abroad. A courier company in Kochi had informed the excise department that two of the parcels they received the other day were suspected to be of drugs.
Following this, the officers took the parcels into custody and an inspection conducted found a packet of 50 LSD stamps and two envelopes of five each. Intoxicants including hashish oil were recovered from the house of a Kozhikode resident, the owner of the parcel. Inspections are being conducted in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram in this regard. A search is on for the Thiruvananthapuram resident for whom the parcel arrived. It is learnt that 56 parcels have reached Kerala in a year.
