THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM has decided to field DYFI All India President A A Rahim as their Rajya Sabha candidate. The decision was taken at the CPM available secretariat meeting attended by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Rahim had served as SFI state vice president, central committee member, DYFI district president, central committee member and syndicate member of Kerala University. He contested and lost from Varkala constituency against Varkala Kahar in 2011.

Rahim, who was DYFI state secretary was chosen as all-India president after Mohammad Riyas reached the Pinarayi cabinet.
