KOZHIKODE: Calicut University Professor Dr K Haris has been fired from service for sexually exploiting students. Earlier, some students had complained that Haris, an assistant professor in the English department at the university, had sexually exploited them. Haris was fired on the basis of this complaint.

The decision was taken at a syndicate meeting held today. In July 2021, a research student had filed a complaint against Dr K. Harris alleging sexual exploitation. The internal grievance redressal cell, which examined this complaint, had found the teacher guilty. Following this, he was suspended. Later, more girls came up with complaints. Considering this situation, the syndicate decided to expel the teacher.
