NEW DELHI: KPCC is busy holding discussions regarding its candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha election in Kerala. However, the Congress High Command has now come up nominating its own candidate for the election. The High Command has nominated Sreenivasan Krishnan, a close confidante of Priyanka Gandhi, for a seat that the Congress is likely to win. The High Command has proposed to add Sreenivasan's name to the list prepared by the state unit. However, no final decision has been made in this regard.

At the same time, there are indications that the KPCC leadership is fielding M Liju's name for the Rajya Sabha seat. KPCC president K Sudhakaran, along with M Liju, had met Rahul Gandhi today morning. Earlier, senior Congress leaders, including KV Thomas, and constituent party leaders, including CP John, had staked claims to the Rajya Sabha seat. High Command's direction came in the midst of these.

Sreenivasan Krishnan, who has close ties with AICC leaders, had earlier worked in the Indian Information Service. Later he worked with K Karunakaran as an officer on special duty for ten years. He is currently the acting AICC General Secretary for Telangana.
