NEW DELHI: For the second day in a row, Congress MPs and Left MPs clashed in the Lok Sabha over K-Rail. Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav, who joked that MPs who are wrestling here shows dosthi(friendship) outside said that Metroman E Sreedharan's concerns about the project were important.

K-Rail was raised by Ernakulam MP Hibi Eden during the question and answer session. He pointed out that the project would create financial liability and environmental damage.

The minister said that environmental concerns were serious. E. Sreedharan points out that even the existing track is submerged in water every year. He said the final approval would be based on the economic and technical feasibility study report.

Hibi Eden pointed out that the state government was going ahead with laying of survey stones. Benny Behnan alleged that the project was being carried out without conducting any environmental or technical studies.

Then A.M. Arif asked for an opportunity to explain the stand of CPM. UDF MPs started protesting after that. Kodikunnil Suresh MP complained that officials and the police abused women, children and sick persons at Mulakuzha in Chengannur, in the name of Krail. Speaker Om Birla said that the violation rights notice issued against Chengannur Circle Inspector Jose Mathew been handed over for further action.
