Our government had recently started discussions on things not making mandatory the use of masks. This hoped in bringing back the normal life of the people. However, the time has not come to lift the use of masks. The World Health Organisation has come forward with a very serious warning.

World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus had come forward warning of a sharp rise in the number of cases of Covid 19. The transmission of Covid is more likely to recur. We should expect another wave of Covid and Asian countries in particular will be the affected. He said the epidemic is not yet over and people should continue to take significant precautions. The number of cases presently being reported is low everywhere as Covid testing is less in many countries. So, he said that this is just the tip of the iceberg.

All countries should be vigilant on Covid. Vaccination and Covid tests should be continued. More attention should be paid to health workers and the elderly. He opined that vaccinations should be completed at the earliest. The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that the number of new cases of Covid has risen by eight per cent in the past week alone. It is comforting that despite the increase in the number of cases, the death rate dropping. According to WHO, the death toll has dropped by about 17 percent. More than 3,000 cases have been reported in China last Tuesday alone. This is double the number of the tally on the previous day. Some Chinese cities are under lockdown including Shenzhen having a population of 17 million. Meantime, the number of cases per day in India is still below 3,000.
