THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said in the assembly that the K-Rail activities are occuring peacefully. CM said that the Opposition should withdraw from violent protests and should not stop the officials from laying survey stones for the project. CM was replying to the questions of the Opposition regarding the police action in Madappally, Changanasherry. The opposition boycotted the assembly as a protest of the police action.
Opposition leader V D Satheesan said that there was a brutal police attack on women and children in Madappally. This is a violation of the assurance given by the Chief Minister that the matter will be handled peacefully. Women are being dragged down the road without female police. Will oppose measures to degrade the protest.
The govt is using police to attack and curb the protests. It is a protest of the evacuees. It is a struggle to realize that a state like Kerala cannot afford the project. People from all sections of Kerala will take up this struggle. V D Satheesan said that the UDF's public meetings against the project will start from Saturday.
The opposition should refrain from actions like misconduct, attack on police and wrong interference. The protest is being led by the Congress. There is a difference of opinion among them. The opposition should not try to reconcile through violence. The Chief Minister replied that it was destructive to the state.
