IDUKKI: Hameed, accused in the Cheenikuzhy massacre, said the murder was committed after his son failed to look after him despite being given the property. He killed his son Faizal, his wife Sheeba and their children Mehra and Azna.
He said that he had shared his property between his two children. The family house and the land adjacent to it was given to Faizal. The condition was that he should take care of him and can take the income from the land. However, his son did not follow that.
A fight broke out between Hameed and his son yesterday morning. A verbal dispute and some unruly scenes were witnessed. Hameed, who went out returned with five bottles of petrol. He poured two bottles of petrol into the house and set it on fire.
He locked the house from outside to prevent his son and his family from escaping. He also drained out water from the water tank. The incident happened late last night. The accused is in police custody now.
