CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu government has provided excellent educational assistance to girl students in the state. Finance Minister Palanivel Thyagarajan on Friday has announced financial assistance to every girl student studying in government schools from Class IV to Plus Two till they pass, in the state budget. The assistance will be Rs.1000 per month and it will be given till they complete graduation and diploma graduation.

Through this, six lakh girl students in the state will have access to higher education. The government has set aside Rs 698 crore for this scheme. Stalin government has implemented a new plan by renewing the announcement made by then Chief Minister Karunanidhi in 1989. The plan at that time was to give Rs 25,000 and 8 grams of gold to girls who pass Class X.

The government has announced new assistance to increase the number of girl students in higher classes in government schools.
