THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala has alleged corruption in the appointment of a consultancy company for the Silver Line project. Chennithala alleged that there is commission involved in awarding the contract to the French company and that the deal was done directly by the Chief Minister. The commission of the consultancy is five per cent. The contract is with a blacklisted French company. Chennithala said there was no possibility of foreign loans for the project. Chennithala alleged that the state government was hurriedly taking over the land to pawn it.
At the same time, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that what needs to be done will be done despite objections. These plans are not for us but for our children. Those who say no now should answer the question of when. What needs to be done now needs to be done now and what should be done tomorrow should be done tomorrow.
CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had also come out against the opposition's protest. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that there is political protest going on in the state against the project. There is no need to battle with the people for the project. Kodiyeri said that the opposition is trying to create Nandigram in Kerala.
