KOCHI: Parameshwaran Mootath of Nenmanassery Illam at Ernakulam has completed 105 years on December 21. He received late birthday present on Saturday. A video message by legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. As today is World Happiness Day and Mootath's happiness makes the day more special.
Mootath's elder brother's grandson had sent one silver coin out of 105 coins made on Mootath's birthday to Sachin. Due to Covid, the gift arrived late. But Sachin replied soon and Mootath is really happy to have received such a message from his favourite star.
Mootath met Sachin in 2017 during Kochi Marathon. Parameswaran was the oldest person in the eight km fun run category that day. The gift was given by Sachin and this was repeated in 2018. Tendulkar, who was asked about the routine and health secrets of the elder, mentioned him in his Rajya Sabha speech.
Mootath is the name of a position in Ernakulam Shiva temple and he served as Mootath for 70 years. He follows a strict daily routine. He suffers from a hearing problem other than that no health issues. For his 105th birthday, the family prepared 105 silver coins and gave them to the relatives who came to the party.
"Dear Parameswaranji, I am very happy to know that you are healthy at the age of 105. You are a role model for the younger generation in healthcare. I remember meeting you. I wish you a long and healthy life as you continue your daily routine." , said Sachin in his message.
