THODUPUZHA: The biggest dream of the slain Faisal and his family was the house warming ceremony of their newly built house in Manjikal. The tragedy happened as preparations for the ceremony were nearing completion. Faisal had bought a plot of land in Manjikal in the name of his wife Sheeba six months ago and started building a house due to family problems with his father Hameed. Rajesh Raghavan, a contractor and Faisal's friend from Cheenikuzhi, said he was trying to complete the work so that the family could move in by early April. There were only six days of work left. A new washing machine and fridge were brought home. There was only a dining table left to be built. Rajesh is distraught as all of this has come to no use.

The 79-year-old father had killed his son and family by setting them on fire as they refused to return the house and property once gifted by Hameed himself. He had lighted bottles filled with petrol and threw it into the room via the windows.

Muhammad Faizal (Shibu 45), wife Sheeba (40), daughters Mehrin (16) and Asna (13) were killed in the tragic incident. The accused Hameed (79) was arrested by the Karimannur police. The brutal murder took place at around Friday midnight. Faizal and his family were sleeping in one room because of Hameed’s murder threats. Hameed used to sleep in another room. No one else was in the house.
