THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Poonthura police said that Sanofer, a native of Pappanamkode, who was under treatment due to injury after falling from a police jeep, has not been taken into custody. According to the police, Sanofer fell on the road as he was drunk. He was taken into custody by police on Wednesday. Sanofer who fell from the jeep that day had died earlier today while undergoing treatment at a medical college.
Relatives alleged that Sanofer jumped out of the jeep when he was beaten by police. According to eyewitness Rahul, Sanofer himself opened the jeep and jumped on the road. Following a family quarrel, Sanofar beat his wife and destroyed household items. Following the complaint of the relatives, the Poonthura police spoke to him and tried to resolve the issue. Meanwhile, Sanofer, who was under the influence of alcohol, tried to injure himself by holding a bottle in his hand. The police then took him to the hospital and then he was returned home. However, he jumped out of the jeep on the way to the staion as per his relatives' request.
Sanofer suffered serious head injuries in the fall including brain damage. He died this afternoon while undergoing treatment.
