KANNUR: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the arguments against the Silver Line project are strange and the grief of those who lose their land due to the project is natural. "The government's decision is not to upset anyone. In the villages, the compensation is four times the value of the property. The government is not trying to make people homeless. This is not for the present but for the future of our children", the CM said. He was speaking at a public meeting in Panur, Kannur.

"The Silverline project will be implemented. Will make people aware of the project. The people will not give in to false opposition. We have to stand for the development of the state and not for narrow politics. If asked privately, Congress leaders will also say they want this project. Don't try your tricks here. Let's see whom the people would listen to", the CM said.

"The UDF might be able to gather some people. The government understands the plight of those who lose their land and that four times compensation is not just a word. Both Congress and the BJP are of the view that the Silver Line should not be allowed. All sections of the people welcome the project. Opposition groups called for a halt to the Silver Line. The Opposition is adamant that development for future generations will not be allowed. The Congress and the BJP are working hand in hand to oppose development. But their leaders themselves are privately speaking in favour of the project", the CM said.
