THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Special Adalats are in progress as part of the process of settling pending applications for propery conversion within six months. From March 15 to this Saturday, 1,200 applications were settled through 16 adalats in different districts. The highest number is in Alappuzha RDO office - 500. From March 1 to 21, a total of 4736 applications (including Adalat) were settled.

On January 26, Kerala Kaumudi had reported that 1.12 lakh applications were pending. Subsequently, Minister K Rajan had assured the Assembly on February 22 that the applications received till January 31 would be settled within six months.

The biggest obstacle is the lack of number of employees. Collectors have been directed to hire 340 vehicles (car / jeep) for Village Offices for site inspection. Rs 6 crore has been sanctioned for computers, printers and scanners.

31.61 crore is the cost of all proceedings for six months.

"Processing of application is done via online. Minister and the Land Revenue Commissioner know the daily details directly. Progress of this operation will be evaluated every month.", said Revenue Minister K Rajan
