THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Cases has been registered against those who demolished the SilverLine survey stones for vandalism of public property. A fine of more than Rs 2,500 per stone will be levied. In case of non-bailable offense, bail will be granted only on payment of this amount.
A case has also been registered against UDF convener MM Hasan for removing the boundary stone at Murukkumpuzha in Thiruvananthapuram. The case is based on a complaint filed by K-Rail along with footage of people removing stones during a public protest. More than 100 cases have been registered across the state.
The case was registered for destruction of public property and obstruction of duty by police and revenue officials. K-rail pays Rs 1000 to the contractor for laying a stone. The stone is laid by three contractors. Instead of 24,000 stones, 6100 stones were placed.
Of the 530 km route, only 160 km was paved.
DGP Anil Kant has directed the police not to provoke the protesters and ensure that human rights are not violated. The protestors have questioned police who reaches the protest spot without name board.
