PALAKKAD: A complaint has been lodged against the police for intervening and disrupting a dance programme of noted dancer Dr Neena Prasad. The mohiniyattom held at Palakkad Moyan L P School had to be stopped midway. The organisers alleged that the police intervened and stopped the cultural event midway as per the demand of a district judge residing just behind the school.
The police demanded the organisers to stop the programme as the judge was facing difficulty due to the sound. However, Neena Prasad via a Facebook said that she moved to the stage as she wanted to continue the show and then danced in a very low voice and it was a very insulting experience.
Her post said that as an artist she suffered an experience which she had not felt in her life earlier. She said that she was invited to perform a short Mohiniyattom at a cultural event related to the release of a book at Moyan LP School, Palakkad. The concert started at 8 pm. When the second item was over, the organizers panicked and told us that the police informed them that it could no longer be performed.
Since the item related to the book release was a sequel, we could not return without performing. She said that her group consisted of musicians from Kerala and outside. The professionals were called and had rehearsal for days and was getting ready for the event with great desire and enthusiasm.
