NEW DELHI: Out of 100 most polluted cities in the world, 63 cities are from India. For the fourth year in a row, New Delhi has earned the bad fame of being the most polluted capital city. The findings are based on an air pollution report released by Switzerland - based IQ Air.

Air pollution in India is ten times higher than the World Health Organization guidelines. The report states that no city in India has been able to meet the standards set by the World Health Organization in terms of atmospheric air.

But the situation in North India is much worser than South India. The level of air pollution here has increased by 15 per cent compared to last year. Haryana and Uttar Pradesh are the worst affected states. The report points out that the health condition of the people living here is going through a very bad situation. The report also points out that people in these states will live at least ten years longer if air pollution can be controlled.
