THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM's AA Rahim, CPI's P Santhosh Kumar and Congress's Jebi Mather are all set to enter the Rajya Sabha. The nomination papers of all three were approved in a scrutiny yesterday.

Voting is not required as there are only three candidates for the three seats. Winners will be announced after the withdrawal period ends at 3 pm tomorrow. The information will be handed over by Kavitha Unnithan, Additional Secretary of Legislative Assembly Secretariat, to the Central Election Commission, at 3 pm. All three will be declared winners as soon as permission is obtained from the Central Election Commission. The certificate required to take oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha will be handed over later.

The nomination filed submitted by independent candidate Dr K Padmarajan was rejected during scrutiny. A candidate can contest only if he has the support of 10 legislators in the nomination paper. This was the 228th election for which Padmarajan had filed his nomination paper. Padmarajan, who used to file nomination papers even for the presidential election, is aiming to break the Guinness World Record.
