NEW DELHI: Union Minister V Muraleedharan has alleged that the Kerala government is misleading the people over the Silver Line. "Rumours are being spread that the project has the approval of the Ministry of Railways. The proceedings are continuing without following the rules", V Muraleedharan said in Rajya Sabha.
"No social impact study has been conducted in connection with the project. Officials are barging into houses as part of laying stones. Vande Bharat trains should be allotted to Kerala and a special route should be provided for the movement of goods. In Kerala, there is no need to implement a plan by evicting thousands of people. The Ministry of Railways should allow a third line", the minister said.
Meanwhile, Congress MP KC Venugopal demanded that the Centre should intervene to stop the Silver Line project. KC Venugopal alleged that the stones are being laid in the name of the central government and that the CPM and the BJP are working together.
