THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: K-Rail MD V Ajithkumar on Wednesday said that the laying of the survey stones for the social impact study of Silver Line will continue and the alternative system of marking is not under consideration. The stones will be laid by avoiding places where there are strong protests. The alignment will be changed if necessary after publishing the study report and holding discussions at various levels. The final notification for land acquisition will be issued after that.

Although there is a buffer zone limit of 30 m in the DPR, the K-Rail has suggested to the government that a buffer zone of 10 m is enough on each side of the track. The safety zone is 5 m on both sides of the track. No construction will be allowed here. A NOC of K-Rail is required for construction in the remaining 5 meters. If the track goes through the plot in the buffer zone, compensation will be paid and the plot will be taken over if demanded by the landlord.
