THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following the introduction of uniforms for the employees, KSEB will experiment work from home system from April 1. This facility is for non-technical staff at Vydyuthi Bhavan. If successful, it will be implemented in other sections as well.
Dr B Ashok, chairman and managing director, said the could be implemented widely after discussions with the staff. Initially, preference will be given to people with disabilities, mothers with children who do not attend school, and single parents.
Laptops were provided to 300 officers and 900 employees of Vydyuthi Bhavan. Video conferencing, e-office software and e-surveillance were set up in the office. Employees were also given guidance on how to work from home.
Only 20% of people in each section are allowed to work from home at the same time. Ten percent will be allowed in sections with public interaction.

Decent clothes should be worn for video conferencing.
During the Covid period, the government allowed employees to work from home. The terms of service were amended for this purpose. Work-from-home was terminated when Covid cases dropped. As KSEB is a separate company, it is not barred from continuing the work-from-home system. This is allowed to the categories that handle a limited number of files. The benefit will be evaluated by the superiors and it will be decided whether to continue or extend it to other offices.
