KANNUR: The girl's family levelled serious allegations against her husband in the incident where a Malayalee journalist was found dead in Bengaluru. Shruti, a journalist of Reuters was found dead at her flat in Bengaluru on March 20.
Shruti of Kasargod and Aneesh of Kannur, a software engineer in Bengaluru got married four years ago. The woman’s relatives alleged that Aneesh harassed her mentally and physically after marriage.
There was a dispute between the two over money. Her brother Nishanth said Aneesh had tried to suffocate Shruti using a pillow for not giving him the money he demanded. Nishanth said that his sister had told him that Aneesh used to bite all over her body whenever he gets angry.
The two were staying at the Mayfair Apartment at Nallurahalli in Bengaluru. Aneesh was in his native place at the time of the incident. There was no response from Shruti when her mother called her on the phone and so she informed Nishanth about it.
Following that, Nishanth contacted the security of Shruti’s apartment. When he came, the room was locked from inside. On suspicion, he informed the police. When they opened the room, she was found hanging. The suicide note recovered has blamed her husband for taking the extreme step. The Bengaluru police have registered a case against her husband under many charges including dowry harassment.
