NEW DELHI: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has rejected the Kerala government's claim on the SilverLine project. In a statement to the Rajya Sabha, the minister rejected the state government's claim that the project would cost Rs 63,000 crore. The Union Ministry of Railways estimates that the project will cost over Rs 1 lakh crore.

"Kerala should not rush into this project at all. You have to think very carefully and make a decision. It is designed to run on a single line. There are technical and financial issues with the project. We will take an action in favour of the people of Kerala and for the good of the state," The Union Railway Minister responded.
