THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Ananthalawattam Anandan, leader of the trade union joint committee, has demanded that people should abandon two-wheelers and train journeys during the 48-hour nationwide strike on March 28 and 29. The strike will last from 6 am on the 28th to 6 am on the 30th. Necessary services such as hospitals, ambulances, pharmacies, milk, newspapers, fire and rescue have been excluded from the strike. Twenty-two trade unions in Kerala are participating in the strike.

The trade unions have called the strike demanding the repeal of anti-labour codes, the immediate declaration of six demands of farmers, and the announcement of support prices for agricultural products. There will be at least 25 protest centres in each district. The striking workers will hold protest rallies at all centres at 9 am.
