wali

KYIV: Wali, one of the deadliest snipers in the world, has come forward denying the news of his death in a Russian attack. "I was the last person to learn the news that I was dead. I think it's just trolling. But I think it's strange because after a while the enemy will lose credibility with this propaganda”, he said. It was rumoured that Wali was killed in a Russian bomb attack as the Russian troops identified Wali’s location because of a mistake he had committed. However, many have wondered that if such a mistake could happen to a world-class soldier like Wali.

Wali, one of the most talked about foreign soldiers, had arrived in Ukraine as a volunteer fighter to counter the Russian attacks. A native of Canada, he is one of the world's foremost soldiers, capable of firing sniper rifles accurately from long distances. His real name is Oliver Lavigne-Ortiz. Within days of his arrival in Ukraine, Wali had killed several Russian soldiers including some top officials.

Target 3.5 km

Wali was one of the four snipers who fought the Taliban in Afghanistan and is famous for his fight against the ISIS in Iraq. He holds the record of the world's longest confirmed kill of 3.5 km when he fired a McMillan Tac-50 rifle to shoot an ISIS militant in Mosul.

Wali has twice served in the Afghanistan war. He was nicknamed ‘Wali’, which means guardian in Arabic, during the war in Afghanistan. What makes him dangerous is his ability to provide 40 kills in a day.

Wali, who has a wife and a son, had said that he was heading to Ukraine due to humanitarian reasons. Earlier, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had appealed for foreign volunteers to fight against Russia. Following which, Wali arrived in Ukraine. After retiring from the military, he had been working in the computer industry before taking up arms once again.
