THRISSUR: Police have collected crucial information regarding the incident where a youth murdered his own brother following a drunken brawl. It is learned that Babu was buried alive in the soil. The post mortem report revealed that soil was found in Babu's lungs.
Sabu had confessed to the police that he had strangled Babu to death following a dispute. The post mortem report also stated that the deceased had sustained a head injury. Police believe that something might have hit Babu's head while he was being dragged away by Sabu.
Babu was murdered on March 16. Sabu then buried the body in an empty field 300 meters away from his house. Sabu continued to search for his brother 9 days after committing the crime. Sabu was present among the crowd when the police started an examination after discovering a body in the empty field.
Babu's body was recovered after a neighbour, who came to graze the cow, became suspicious after seeing soil removed in a part of the field near Babu's house. He then informed other locals. Later, the locals dug the soil from the field and unearthed a part of a hand. Soon, the police reached the area and examined the body and identified the deceased as Babu.
The tattoo on Babu's hand was also crucial in identifying the body. Sabu was at home when the locals conducted the search. However, when the police contacted him over the phone, he said that he was not at home. The body was found lying sidewise in a narrow pit. Sabu had sprinkled lime and bleaching powder on top of the body. The police also became suspicious after seeing a broken TV in the brothers' house.
